A rider from a young age, Wendy Gerrish is the President and General Manager of October Hill, overseeing all facets of the farm’s daily activity. She is also the supervisor of the Breeding Program and manages the breeding stallions in residence. A rider from a very young age, Wendy spent many years showing in the hunter ring, earning many championships at the A/O level. A graduate of Vanderbilt University with a Masters in Liberal Arts from Texas Christian University, she is a busy mom to two cute kids and a volunteer with various non-profit organizations including the American Holsteiner Horse Association.
From the age of six, Erin has been on or around horses, competing first on ponies and then, by her twenties, representing Zone 7 in the Young Riders Championships. Her first Grand Prix win came in 1997. An international level Grand Prix rider with many placings, Erin continues to compete now as an amateur on many of October Hill’s horses, including many that she has bred herself. Erin’s passions include being a mom to her daughter Ella, a fierce leadline competitor, her husband Christian, and her cat, Bob, a famous feline on the horse show circuit.
A native of Germany, Christian is the VP of Operations at October Hill, and is a top-ranked money earner at the international level. He has led the victory gallops in over 40 Grand Prix classes since 2013 aboard such horses as NKH Selena, River of Dreams and NKH Caruso. Christian’s background is as a rider for the Federal Stud Farm of Mecklenburg in Redefin where he achieved his Pferd…..meister (need the word) prior to immigrating to the United States to pursue his dream. He has represented his home country in both Nations Cup and World Cup competitions. In his role at October Hill Farm, he supervises the training of horse and rider and is the main contact point for interested buyers. Christian became a member of the Davis family in 2013 when he wed Erin in a beautiful ceremony at the family’s home in Fort Worth.
A graduate of University of Findlay, Kayce’s degree in equine studies has been put to very good use in the daily management needs of our over 50 horses. Kayce brings sizeable organizational capabilities and communication skills to her critical role on the farm, scheduling and movement of horses and the team to and from their show locations and squeezing in the time to teach lessons on most days. Kayce balances her job with duties as a mother of two with a small baking business, Kayce’s Kitchen, which she runs out of her home.
When Kat arrived at October Hill for an interim job during time off from Texas A&M University and its NCAA Equestrian Team, she thought it would be just a few months before she’d head back to school. Today she is teaching, managing horses on the road, riding client horses at the shows and providing support to Christian at the big competitions.
